Animal tooth jewelry was common in numerous cultures and is still in use today.
Neolithic
In southern Germany in particular, it is considered a widespread characteristic of the Neolithic , but was already used as jewelry in the European Paleolithic . W. Schrickel recognizes two lines of development in the Neolithic. One begins in the northern Middle Neolithic and one in the southern German Early Neolithic.

The deer grandeln of the Nordic Middle Neolithic were later replaced by dog and predator teeth . In terms of the way it was worn, it was found that the teeth of the southern German Early Neolithic, which were initially worn as necklaces, were later used as trimmings.
Modern
In Europe today, deer grains are mainly used as jewelry.
