Stuart Davenport (born September 21, 1962 in Auckland ) is a former New Zealand squash player .

Career

Stuart Davenport began his career in 1980 and won a title on the PSA World Tour until he retired in 1987 . It was the 1986 US Open , where he defeated Ross Norman in the final. He achieved his best placement in the world rankings with third place in February 1986. In 1983 he was New Zealand national champion .

With the New Zealand national team he took part in world championships in 1983 , 1985 and 1987 . After a fifth place in 1983 Davenport reached the team in both 1985 and 1987 the final against Pakistan . In 1985 he provided the New Zealanders' only point in the 2-1 defeat with a 3-1 defeat against Umar Hayat Khan , while in 1987 he lost his game against Jahangir Khan 3-0 in the 3-0 defeat .

From 1982 to 1987 he was six times in a row in the main field of the individual world championship. His best performance was reaching the semi-finals in 1983 , which he lost to Chris Dittmar in three sets.

He was inducted into the New Zealand Squash Hall of Fame in 2009, the year it was founded.
