history

Men's

Pakistan has participated in every World Cup since it was first held in Melbourne in 1967 , with the exception of Johannesburg in 1973 . In 1977 the team won the world championship for the first time , but two years later they failed in the final. From 1981 to 1987 Pakistan remained without a single defeat and during this time became world champions four times in a row. During this time, Jahangir and Jansher Khan were among the top performers. In 1989 the team was denied a fifth consecutive title in the final, and in 1993 in Karachi , their home country , they finally won their sixth title. At the 1995 tournament , Pakistan stood for the last time in the final, which it lost to England . Since then, the team has mostly made it to the second round or quarter-finals. With the 21st place she achieved the worst result at a world championship in 2011 .

Pakistan was also very successful at the Asian Championships . From the first edition in 1981 to 1994, the team always won the title, a total of seven. Only in 1996 did a defeat follow in the final. Further titles were won in 1998, 2002, 2004, 2010, 2012 and 2014. With 14 tournament victories, Pakistan is the record winner in this competition.
