Squash World Team Championship 2007

The 21st World Team Championship for Men ( English 2007 Men's World Team Squash Championships ) was held from 6 to 12 December 2007, Chennai , India instead. A total of 29 teams competed.

The English team successfully defended their title with a 2-1 win in the final over Australia . It was the fourth world title for England after 1995, 1997 and 2005. In the final Australia was able to take the lead after David Palmer won 3-2 against Nick Matthew . However, James Willstrop and Peter Barker won the two subsequent games 3-0 against Stewart Boswell and Cameron Pilley . The English team also included Lee Beachill , who was not used in the final. On the Australian side, Scott suspended Arnold . England had previously defeated France 2-1 in the semi-finals , while Australia beat the Egyptian team 2-1. In the game for third place, Egypt lost 2-0 to the French: Grégory Gaultier and Thierry Lincou defeated Amr Shabana and Wael El Hindi 3-1 each.

The German team took 16th place. After a second place in Group A, all subsequent games were lost for the team. Austria clearly missed the qualification for the final round and finished in 24th place. A Swiss team did not compete.

mode

The participating teams were drawn into eight groups according to their placement, the group size varied between three and four teams. Within the groups, the game was played in round robin mode ; the two best-placed teams reached the final round, which was played in the knockout system . At the tournament all places were played out.

All teams consisted of a minimum of three and a maximum of five players who had to be reported in the order of their skill level. Three individual games were played per encounter. A team won if its players could win two of the individual games. The order in which the individual games were played was independent of the order in which the players entered.
