The Welsh national squash team is the entirety of the squash squash federation of Wales Squash & Racketball . In it you will find Welsh athletes who represent their country in both individual and team competitions nationally and internationally in the sport of squash .

history

Men's

Wales have participated in every World Cup since 1983 . Previously, Welsh squash players were part of the British team , from 1981 the individual nations took part with their own teams. When it debuted in 1983, Wales reached 11th place. The second participation took place only in 1987 , the third even not until 1993 . The team achieved their best result in Cairo in 1999 when they reached the final against Egypt . In this, Alex Gough , David Evans , Gavin Jones and Greg Tippings lost 3-0. Wales participated in every event from 1993 to 2009 , but did not start in 2011 and 2013 . The next participation followed in 2017 .

Wales was successful at the European Championships , which have been held annually since 1973. The first podium was achieved in 1983 in Munich with third place. This result improved the team in 1997 in Odense with second place behind England . Between 1998 and 2010, Wales made it to at least the semi-finals every year except for 2008: they finished the tournament six times in third and fourth place respectively.
