The Italian team finished the tournament in 6th place after a 1: 2 defeat against Malaysia. During the tournament, however , the Italian Stéphane Galifi tested positive for cannabis in a doping test. Galifi, who had been banned for the same reason in 2005, was banned again from the World Squash Federation for two years. According to the rules, Italy was subsequently disqualified from the World Cup and put back in last place.
