history
Men's
Scotland has participated in every World Cup since 1981 . Scottish squash players were previously part of the British team . On their debut in 1981, Scotland reached the quarter-finals and finished the tournament in eighth place. Up to and including 1999 , the team always failed in the group stage. It wasn't until 2001 that a better result was achieved when they even reached the semi-finals and finally fourth place, which is still Scotland's best result to this day. The team included Martin Heath and John White . Two years later , the team was again in the quarter-finals, before being eliminated from all subsequent tournaments either in the group stage or in the round of 16 until 2013 . In 2017 they made it to the quarter-finals for the first time.
Scotland was very successful at the European Championships , which have been held annually since 1973. Between 1973 and 1977 the team was vice European champion behind England five times in a row . In the following two years she was ranked third. In 1981 she was in the semi-finals for the last time. It wasn't until 1992 that she made it back to the semifinals and ultimately even became European champion. Further podium places followed in 1994 with third place and in 1996 and 1999 with second place. Between 1999 and 2011, Scotland always missed the semi-finals and only reached it again in 2012 . As in 2013 and 2014, the team finished fourth.
