The World Squash Federation ( WSF ) represents the international squash sport and advocates its interests. It is the umbrella organization for all national associations.

History and meaning

The WSF was founded in 1967 under the name International Squash Rackets Federation . In 1992 the name was changed to its current name. A total of 149 national associations are members of the world association, which has its headquarters in Hastings , England . He is a member of the Association of IOC Recognized International Sports Federations and the Global Association of International Sports Federations .

The French Jacques Fontaine has been the current president of the association since 2016 . Jahangir Khan , who is considered to be the most successful squash player in history and who himself was president for many years, has been honorary president of the WSF since 2008.

tasks

All world championships are organized by the WSF, the rest of the tour calendar is drawn up in close coordination with the professional association for men and women, the PSA . The WSF also ensures that squash becomes or remains part of the program at major sporting events, such as the Commonwealth Games or the World Games . In addition, the WSF performs administrative tasks such as organizing the refereeing and maintaining the rules.

The main goal of the WSF is to make squash an Olympic sport . So far, however, the applications for the 2012 and 2016 games have failed . Another attempt was made for the 2020 Summer Olympics , but it also failed.
