Tunku Imran
Tan Sri Dato 'Seri Tunku Imran ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja'afar al-Haj (born March 21, 1948 in Seremban ) is a Malaysian sports official and former squash player .
General
Tunku Imran is the second son of the ruler ( Yamtuan Besar ) of the Malaysian state Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Jaafar, who died in 2008 . He spent his school days in Great Britain, where he attended King's School in Canterbury . He studied law at the University of Nottingham and received his Bachelor of Laws in 1970 . The Gray's Inn Bar Association in London appointed him barrister in 1971 . After returning to Malaysia, he held various management positions in national companies.
In 2009 he was awarded an honorary international doctorate from the United States Sports Academy . In 2009 the University of Nottingham awarded him an honorary doctorate in law. In 2014 the University of Glasgow awarded him an honorary doctorate.
Sports career and administration
Tunku Imran was an active squash player. In 1973 he became national champion and played in the Malaysian national team until 1976 .
In 1988 he was Chef de Mission of the Malaysian Olympic team at the Summer Olympics in Seoul . Since 1998 he has been President of the Malaysian NOK. From 1989 to 2002 he was President of the World Squash Federation , after which he took over the patronage of this organization.
IOC membership
Tunku Imran was elected an IOC member in 2006. He is a member of the Sports and Society Commission. He is also a member of the International Sports Court .
