List of members of the International Olympic Committee

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The members represent the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in their country, but they are not representatives of their country in the IOC. They are elected for a term of eight years on the proposal of the Executive Committee , and they can be re-elected every eight years.

Membership lasts at most until the end of the calendar year in which the member turned 70. For members who were elected before the 110th IOC session (December 11, 1999), there is the exception that they may belong to the IOC up to the age of 80. There was no age limit for members elected before 1966.

As of August 2018, the IOC of 140 individuals, including 96 members voting regular (consists members ), 41 honor members (engl. Honorary members , two members ehrenhalber) (engl. Honor member ) and a honor president.

The chairmen of international sports organizations that represent an Olympic sport (e.g. the president of the swimming federation FINA) are represented "ex officio" (due to their function) in the IOC.

52 IOC members took part in the Olympic Games , 35 of whom won medals.

11 IOC members come from German-speaking countries:
