Baklai Temengil

Baklai Temengil (born October 23, 1966 ) is a politician, sports official and former canoeist from Palau .

General

Baklai Temengil was trained as a trainer at the Australian Institute of Sport . The State Ministry of Palau also trained them in diplomacy. After her training she worked as an administrative clerk in Palau and the USA. In 1995 she became administrative assistant to the Palau Vice-President. In 2013 she became Minister of Culture, the first woman in the Palauian cabinet.

Sports career

Baklai Temengil was a canoeist. She participated in the 1998 Micronesia Games in Koror and the 1999 South Pacific Games in Guam . When her country made her Olympic debut at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , she was there as an official. At the 2011 Pacific Games in Nouméa , New Caledonia , she took part in an outrigger canoe .

Sports administration

In 2001 Baklai Temengil became Secretary General of the Palau NOC. In 2017, she became the first Vice President of the Oceania National Olympic Committee . In the same year she was elected to the IOC. Since then she has been a member of the women's sports committee.
