The Micronesian Games ( English Micronesian Games or Micro Games ) are sports competitions Micronesian participants with Olympic character.
history
The Micronesia Games were first held unofficially in 1969 in Saipan on the Northern Mariana Islands , which politically belong to the United States . Although this event was still unofficial, it is known as the first Micronesia Games. Although it was planned from the beginning to hold the Games regularly, the second Micronesia Games were not played in Saipan until 1990. Since then, the event has taken place every four years at the Olympic rate.
Since the first edition of the Games, participants from ten nations and dependent areas of the Micronesia region have been allowed to take part . This includes the four sovereign states of the Marshall Islands , Kiribati , Nauru and Palau , the US outlying areas of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam, and the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia, Chuuk , Pohnpei , Kosrae and Yap .

In 2006, demonstration competitions were held to climb coconut trees and peel coconut . These are held as official competitions, but are not included in the medal table.
