Pohnpei is a member of the Federated States of Micronesia .

In addition to the main island of the same name, Pohnpei , the inhabited atolls Sapwuahfik , Mokil and Pingelap as well as the Polynesian exclaves Kapingamarangi and Nukuoro further south belong to this Micronesian state - a total of over 162 smaller islands and atolls . The area of ​​the state is 345.5 km², with 336.7 km² on the main island. In 2009, Pohnpei's soccer selection caused a sensation in the UK media.

The capital of the state is Kolonia on the island of Pohnpei.
