Colonia
Kolonia is a city in the Federated States of Micronesia in the Pacific Ocean . It is located in the north of the island of Pohnpei and has 6074 inhabitants (2010 census). The international airport is located about two kilometers north of Kolonia on the island of Dekehtik .
Kolonia is the capital of the state of Pohnpei , one of the four states that together make up the Federated States of Micronesia. The city is also often mistakenly viewed as the capital of the entire state; However, this is Palikir , also located on Pohnpei , five kilometers away . Only a few authorities in the state as a whole have their headquarters in Kolonia.
The preservation of the bell tower of the former German mission church in Kolonia and the maintenance of the small German cemetery were funded by German federal funds.
