Beatrice Allen

Beatrice Allen (born August 8, 1950 ) is a Gambian sports official .

Life

Allen holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Development, a Diploma in Gender and Development, and a Diploma in Gender Responsive Project Implementation, and earned a certificate in the training of gender trainers.

From 1974 to 1989 she worked in various functions at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in The Gambia. From 1990 until 2002 she was national advisor to UNDP and in 2003 advisor / coordinator to National Trade Fair. From 2004 to 2010 she was Executive Director at Trade & Investment Promotion.

Allen is Vice President of the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC), of which she has been a member since 2001, and a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), to which she was elected on February 10, 2006. She was previously on the Board of Directors of the Gambian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI). After successfully organizing the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) in Gambia in 2003, she succeeded Fatou Bensouda as Chair of the GNOC Committee on Women and Sport.

During the years she was active in the following IOC commissions: Women and Sport (2004–2015), Culture and Olympic Education (2008–2015), coordination for the XXXI Games. Olympic Games Rio 2016 (2010-2016), Olympic Education (2015-) and Women in Sport (2015-). She was appointed to the IOC Commission on Public Affairs and Social Development through Sport in 2017.

According to the IOC charter, her membership as an IOC member ends at the end of the calendar year in which she turns 70.
