Patrick Chamunda

Patrick Chamunda (born July 22, 1945 ) is a Zambian manager and sports official .

Education and professional life

After attending school, Patrick Chamunda went to the University of Zambia in the capital Lusaka . He studied public administration and political science and graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree . In 1972 he attended the London Business School .

Chamunda subsequently held responsible positions as a manager or director for various companies and banks. B. as CEO of Zambia Railways from 1995 to 1998.

Relationship to sport

Patrick Chamunda worked in various functions for Zambian and international sports associations from the late 1970s. For the Zambian NOK he was treasurer (1977 to 1981), vice-president (1981 to 1992) and president (since 1992). He was the head of the delegation of the Zambian Olympic teams from 1984 and 1988. From 1985 to 1990 he was Vice President of the Zambian Golf Association.

Activities within the IOC

Chamunda was a member of the IOC from 2002 to 2015 . He has been an honorary member since 2016. At the IOC he served on various commissions. From 2002 to 2015 he was a member of the Sport for All Commission, of the Finance Commission from 2006 to 2014 and of the Audit Commission from 2013 to 2016.
