Gerhard Heiberg

Jens Gerhard Heiberg (born April 20, 1939 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian businessman and sports official.

General

Gerhard Heiberg attended Copenhagen Business School in the Danish capital, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1963 . Further courses of study also took him to the San José State University in California in 1964 . Heiberg has worked as a manager and director for various Norwegian companies.

Sports administration

Gerhard Heiberg was chairman of the organizing committee for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer . In the same year he was awarded the Olympic gold medal for his services . He has been a member of the Norwegian NOK since 1994.

IOC membership

In 1994 Gerhard Heiberg was elected an IOC member. His membership ended in 2017 for reasons of age. In that year he became an honorary member. During his time as a member he worked on the commissions for TV rights and new media, for Olympic philately, numismatics and memorabilia, for the Olympic program, for marketing and for auditing.

As chairman of the evaluation commission for the 2010 Winter Olympics, he was accused of taking sides with the city of Vancouver .
