Robin Mitchell

Robin E. Mitchell (born March 10, 1946 in Levuka ) is a doctor and sports official from Fiji .

General

Robin Mitchell went to Australia after finishing school and studied medicine at the University of Adelaide . After completing his studies, he returned to Fiji and practiced as a doctor there.

Sports

Mitchell was active as a field hockey player. From 1984 to 1990 he was the national coach of the Fijian hockey team. He was the team doctor of the Fijian delegation at various major events between 1984 and 1992 such as the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and the Pacific Games . From 1985 to 1993 he was a member of the medical commission of the Association of NOCs of Oceania (ONOC) . From 1989 to 1993 he was Vice President of ONOC, from 1993 to 2009 Secretary General and since 2009 the President. Since 2009 he has also been Vice President of the Association of NOKs (ANOC) . Since 2001, Mitchell has been the IOC representative at the World Anti-Doping Agency . In addition, he has been chairman of the oceanic anti-doping organization since 2005 and chairman of the ANOC medical commission since 2014.

Activities within the IOC

Robin Mitchell was elected an IOC member in 1994. He is a member of the Commissions for Olympic Solidarity (since 2000), Ethics (since 2003), Coordination of the Games of the 33rd Olympiad in Tokyo in 2020 (since 2013) and the election of members (since 2015). Since 2015 he has been the deputy chairman of the Commission for Medicine and Science. In September 2017 Mitchell was elected to the IOC Executive Board for four years .
