Faisal bin Al Hussein
Faisal bin Al Hussein ( Arabic فيصل بن الحسين بن طلال, DMG Faiṣal b. al-Ḥusain b. Ṭalāl ; * October 11, 1963 in Amman ) is a Prince of Jordan . He is third in line to the Jordanian throne and has been a member of the IOC since 2010 .
Life
family
Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein was born on October 11, 1963 as the second son of King Hussein I of Jordan and his second wife Muna al-Hussein in Amman. His older brother Abdullah II is the current king of Jordan. He has two sisters and eight half-siblings who come from his father's other marriages.
In August 1987, Prince Faisal married the Jordanian Alia Tabbaa, daughter of Sayyid Tawfik al-Tabbah, the founder and president of the Royal Jordanian Airline . From this marriage the children Ayah (born February 11, 1990), Omar (born October 22, 1993) and the twins Sara and Aisha (both born March 27, 1997) were born. In April 2008, Prince Faisal and Princess Alia divorced. On March 20, 2010, Prince Faisal married Sara Qabbani in Jeddah . Prince Faisal is third in line to the Jordanian throne after his brother's two sons.
education
After attending preschool in Amman, Faisal bin Al Hussein left Jordan at the age of six to attend St Edmund's School in Surrey, England . A year later he moved to the Bement School in Deerfield, Massachusetts . Two years later he attended the Eaglebrook School, also located in Deerfield . In 1978 he moved to Washington, DC to continue his education at the local St Albans School . He graduated from school in 1981 with a high school diploma . He then studied electrical engineering at Brown University in Providence and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Sciences . During his studies, Prince Faisal took flight lessons and received a license as a private pilot . In the 1990s, Prince Faisal attended London Business School , from which he graduated in 1998 with a Master of Management .
Profession and duties
Faisal bin Al Hussein completed a military career and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant General in the Royal Jordanian Air Force . He has held various senior positions in the Jordanian Army and Air Force. In addition, he is chairman of the board of the King Abdullah II Center of Excellence , an institution whose aim is to promote the further development of Jordan in various areas. Furthermore, Faisal is chairman of the board of the Royal Water Committee (drinking water), the Royal Committee of the King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz City Project (an urban development project in Amman) and chairman of the university council of Mutah University .
Functions in the field of sports
Prince Faisal, who himself took part in motor sport rallies and is an active sports shooter, heads numerous organizations in the field of sport. From 1989 to 2004 he was Chairman of the Motorsport Commission of the Jordanian automobile club, the Royal Automobile Club of Jordan . Since 2004 he has been chairman of the Jordan Motorsport Association and president of the National Olympic Committee of Jordan. In 2007 he founded the institutions, Generations For Peace and Peace Through Sport Committee of the Olympic Council of Asia , which are committed to international understanding and which he chairs. He has also been on the Executive Board of the Olympic Council of Asia since 2007. Faisal bin Al Hussein has been a member of the International Olympic Committee since 2010.
Awards
Prince Faisal has been the holder of the Spanish Order of Gran Cruz de la Orden de Isabel la Católica since 2006 . He has also been awarded the Jordanian Order Al Istiklal and he is a member of the French Legion of Honor.
