Nita Dalal Mukesh Ambani (born November 1, 1963 in Mumbai ) is an Indian philanthropist and sports official . She is one of the richest women in India.

General

Nita Ambani was born with the maiden name Dalal in Mumbai in 1963. She belongs to the middle class and was trained in the classical dance Bharatanatyam . She attended Narsee Monjee College at the University of Mumbai , where she completed her bachelor's degree in commerce.

Nita Dalal met the engineer Mukesh Ambani and married him in 1985. The couple have two sons and a daughter. Ambani became the CEO of Reliance. The Ambani couple established the Reliance Foundation , a philanthropic foundation; Nita Ambani works as chairwoman of the foundation's board of directors, and she is also a patron of the arts.

Nita Ambani is co-owner of the Mumbai Indians , a cricket team from the Indian Premier League . In 2016 she was elected an IOC member. She is a member of the Commission for Public Relations and Social Development through Sport.

Awards

In 2013 Nita Ambani received an honorary doctorate from the SCSVMV University of Kanchipuram. In 2015 she was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the All India Management Association . Her philanthropic work in the fields of sport, education, health care and women's rights was honored by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 2017 . In her capacity as co-founder of the Reliance Foundation, Nita Ambani was presented with the Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Award by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind .
