Juan Antonio Samaranch Salisachs (born November 1, 1959 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish finance manager and sports official. He is the son of the former President of the International Olympic Committee Juan Antonio Samaranch .

General

Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr. studied at New York University , where he obtained a Master of Business Administration . He studied industrial engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona .

Professionally, he was particularly active in the financial sector. He held responsible positions for various investment companies, such as B. as an analyst for the First Boston Corporation , the investment department of Credit Suisse , or as Vice President of the British investment bank SG Warburg & Co. Today he is Managing Director of GBS Finanzas . He is also a member of the board of directors of PortAventura World , a Spanish leisure resort and Vice President of the Real Automóvil Club de Catalunya , which u. a. hosts the Rally Catalonia .

Sports administration

Samaranch jr. has been a member of the Spanish NOK since 1989. Since 1998 he has headed its finance committee. Since 1996 he has been the first vice-president of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne .

IOC membership

In 2001 Juan Antonio Samaranch jr. Elected IOC member, he has been IOC Vice President since 2016. He is a member of the commissions for marketing, for Olympic solidarity, for communication and for the coordination of the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing in 2022.
