Uğur Erdener

Uğur Erdener (born June 25, 1950 in Trabzon ) is a Turkish ophthalmologist and sports official.

General

Erdener attended elementary school in Van and middle school in Bandırma . He graduated from high school in Ankara . Uğur Erdener studied medicine at Hacettepe University in Ankara with a focus on ophthalmology . As a doctor of medicine, he settled in Ankara and obtained the degree Doçent in 1996 and a professorship at Hacettepe University in 2001.

In 2000 Erdener became director of the Hacettepe University Hospital.

Athletic career

Uğur Erdener was active in basketball and in the triple jump. After his active career, he worked as a basketball coach. Since 2011 he has been the President of the Turkish NOK . He has also been President of the World Archery Federation since 2013 .

IOC membership

In 2008 Erdener was elected an IOC member. He is Chairman of the Medical Commission and IOC Vice President since 2016. He is also the IOC representative of the World Anti-Doping Agency .
