James L. Easton

James L. Easton (born July 26, 1935 in Los Angeles ) is an American engineer, entrepreneur , archer , patron , sports official and Vice President of the IOC .

Life

James L. is the son of James D. Easton, who built the aluminum family business, founded in 1922 , by being the first to produce aluminum bows for archery since 1946. James L. studied after high school at the UCLA Engineering ( Bachelor , 1959) and was active as an archer. From 1959 to 1963 he worked for the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach (California) . He then joined the family business and after ten years became the managing director in 1973. He had convinced his father to try his hand at other sports equipment and so they also produce ski sticks , ice hockey and baseball bats . From 1989 to 2005 he was President of the World Archery Federation . In 1997 he was inducted into the Archery Hall of Fame . He has been a member of the IOC since 1994 , which elected him 4th Vice President in 2002 and 1st Deputy President of Thomas Bach in 2005 . As a representative of a non-doping sport, he can represent both the old and the new spirit of the IOC. He is the President of the Easton Foundation , which u. a. Donated US $ 11 million to UCLA's Easton Technology Management Center . He has served on the UCLA Foundation's Board of Trustees since 1985 and received the UCLA Medal of Honor in 2014.
