Wolfgang Kolczyk (born August 28, 1971 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

Wolfgang Kolczyk played for Tennis Borussia Berlin in his youth . From there he switched to Hertha BSC's offspring in 1987 . There he caused a sensation with the amateur team in the 1992/93 season in the DFB Cup , when he made it to the finals with the so-called Hertha Bubis . On the way there, defending champions Hannover 96 (4: 3) and Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg (2: 1) were defeated. In the semifinals, Kolczyk had to watch due to an injury sustained in the game against Türkiyemspor Berlin , while his colleagues in the Berlin Olympic Stadium won 2-1 against Chemnitzer FC . With this success, the amateurs secured participation in the final at the same venue. In the final against Bayer 04 Leverkusen , Wolfgang Kolczyk was in the starting line-up, but couldn't prevent the favorite from winning the trophy with a goal from Ulf Kirsten . Unlike his teammates from the final, such as Christian Fiedler , Carsten Ramelow and Andreas Schmidt , Kolczyk did not make it into Hertha’s second division team , even though he was there for one season. Kolczyk played for the Hertha Amateurs until 1997 before moving to SC Staaken . There he had to end his football career because of knee problems.
