Austin Sealy

Sir Austin Llewellyn Sealy (born September 17, 1939 ) is a Barbadian finance manager, diplomat and sports official.

General

Austin Sealy attended Harrison College in the Barbadian capital Bridgetown . After completing his training, he worked as a banker from 1958 to 1993. In 1993 and 1994 he was Barbados Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Israel. He has been working as an economic and financial advisor since 1994.

Offices in sports associations

Austin Sealy was president of the Athletics Association of Barbados from 1970 to 1978 and from 1981 to 1988, the Barbadian athletics association. Since 1988 he has been its honorary president. From 1974 to 1978 he was treasurer for the NOK of Barbados. From 1982 to 1996 he was the President of the NOK. On the Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Games, Sealy served as a member of the Finance Committee from 1982 to 1986 and as Treasurer from 1986 to 2015. Since 2015 he has been Honorary Vice President for life. In 2007 he was also chairman of the organizing committee of the 2007 Cricket World Cup , which was held in Bridgetown. Since 2011 he has been a member of the Finance and Administrative Commission of the World Anti-Doping Agency WADA.

Activities within the IOC

In 1994, Austin Sealy was elected an IOC member. He was and is a member of various IOC commissions, such as B. Olympic Solidarity (1995 to 2001), International Relations (2013 to 2015) and Public Relations and Social Development (since 2015).

honors and awards

In 1985 Sealy was awarded the Barbadian Order (Silver Crown of Merit). In 2014 he was raised to the nobility by Queen Elizabeth II as a Knight Bachelor ("Sir") .
