Ng Ser Miang
Ng Ser Miang ( Chinese : 黄 思 绵; born April 6, 1949 in the Republic of China ) is a Singaporean diplomat and has been a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1998 .
Life
After studying at the University of Singapore , Ng first worked as a bank clerk . In 1974 he moved to an insurance company as managing director and two years later to the local public transport company TIBS , which he became chairman in 2000. Ng is now the chairman of a number of companies.
His career as a sports official began in the late 1980s when he was first elected Vice President and then President of the Singapore Yachting Association in 1989. In 1988 Ng became a member of the Singapore Sports Council and in 1991 was elected its chairman. In 1993, as chairman of the finance committee, he made a significant contribution to the economic success of the 17th Southeast Asian Games held in Singapore .
Also in 1993 he became Vice President of the Asian Yachting Federation and the following year Vice President of the International Sailing Federation . In 1998 he was elected to the International Olympic Committee. There Ng was a member of the IOC committee that accompanied the preparations for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . He was also a member of the evaluation commission for the 2012 Olympic Summer Games .
Ng was appointed his country's ambassador to Hungary in 2000 and was also appointed ambassador to Norway in 2001.
