Francisco Elizalde

Francisco José Elizalde (born October 10, 1932 in San Sebastian , Samar Province ) is a Filipino entrepreneur and sports official.

General

The Elizalde family settled in the United States before the Japanese occupied the Philippine Islands in World War II . Francisco Elizalde attended the Loyola School , an independent Jesuit school in New York . He then attended the Staunton Military Academy and graduated in 1950 with the rank of captain and company commander of G Company. 1950 to 1954 followed a study at Harvard University .

Professional career

Francisco Elizalde founded and ran a holding company named after him. His companies were active in different sectors. He was chairman of a distillery, a company for security technology, a company for the production of ropes and cables, a paint and oil production facility, a company for mineral exploration and development and an association of sugar plantation owners.

Sports administration

In 1965, Elizalde joined the Philippine Football Association and was president from 1982 to 1986. Since 1982 he has been a member of the Philippine NOK.

IOC membership

In 1985 Francisco Elizalde was elected an IOC member. In 2013 his membership ended for reasons of age and he has been an honorary member ever since. Since 2003 he has been chairman of the nomination committee. In 2012 he was awarded the Olympic Silver Medal for his services .
