Defending champion Australia was able to successfully defend its title from 1969 once again. As in 1967 and 1969, the Australian team remained undefeated. The team consisted of the two events in 1967 and 1969 from Geoff Hunt , Ken Hiscoe , Dick Carter and Cam Nancarrow . The British team was runner-up for the third time , with Pakistan taking third place . For the first time Canada took part in the World Cup.
The participating teams competed in a common group. The group played in round robin mode , and the top team received the title of world champion.
All teams consisted of a minimum of three and a maximum of four players who had to be reported in the order of their skill level. Three individual games were played per encounter. A team won if its players could win two of the individual games. The order in which the individual games were played was independent of the order in which the players entered.
