Tilisunabad

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tilisunabad (also "Wildbad im Tilisunatal" or "Wildbad Schönau", about 1090  m above sea level ) was a spa in Tschagguns in Vorarlberg ( Austria ) under the Ziegerberg and was located in the "Hof Bädli" plot.

history

The beginning of the use of the healing spring in Tilisunabad is not known. In 1608 the bath was mentioned in a document, destroyed by an avalanche on February 23, 1738, rebuilt and continued. Around 1800 there was still a large farmhouse in the Rhaeto-Romanic style in the basement of which bathtubs were installed for bathing. In 1810, the bathroom master Franz Thomas Fleisch was incapacitated because of his extravagance. Around 1840 the bathroom was run by a Mr. Würbel, which he had previously taken over from the Brugger family. According to oral tradition, the bathroom itself was said to have been quite exuberant.

From the Tschagguns Tilisunabad and the Bad Hinterplärsch ( Bad Fohrenburg ) a "bath money", a kind of wellness tax, had to be paid to the authorities.

It is not known when the swimming pool was closed.

Bathing and healing spring

The healing spring used was a cold sulfur spring and an iron-containing spring (similar to the spring in the Silbertal spa ). A total of four "different costal waters" are said to have been in use. The peak of the use of the mineral spring was around the middle of the 17th to the middle of the 18th century.

In Eduard Jos Koch's treatise from 1843: “ A treatise on mineral springs in general scientific terms and a description of all baths and health fountains known in the Austrian monarchy ”, the bath was no longer mentioned. Josef Zehenter mentioned the Tilisunabad in 1895 in mineral springs in Vorarlberg and noted that the bathing establishment had long been closed.

The bath never gained more than regional importance (farmers bath). The accommodation was kept simple and , according to tradition , the " Badbutz " is said to have been up to mischief here.

Geography / topography

Tilsunabad was about 2 km as the crow flies from Tschagguns, 3 km from Schruns and 13 km from Bludenz.

To the south-east of the “Hof Bädli” parcel is the “Schwefelried” and the Badweg located here also reminds of the former function of the parcel.
