description

Tilquhillie Castle is isolated around 2.5 kilometers southeast of the village of Banchory and two kilometers south of the right bank of the Dee . The four-story Tower House originally had a Z-shaped floor plan with two towers offset diagonally around the main tower. However, as a result of revisions, a homogeneous structure has now been created, the original floor plan of which is difficult to recognize.

The facades of Tilquhillie Castle are plastered with Harl . The entrance portal with protruding stair tower is located in the interior corner facing south-east. A coat of arms of the Clan Douglas is embedded in it. Another stair tower protrudes from the north side. Below the eaves, the edges of the three building sections are rounded. The final gable roofs with stepped gables are covered with slate. The rooms on the ground floor have vaulted ceilings .
