Tim Laughlin

Tim Laughlin (born March 6, 1963 in New Orleans ) is an American clarinetist of Dixieland and traditional jazz in New Orleans.

Laughlin learned to play the clarinet at the age of nine. In high school he also played alto saxophone. He cites Pete Fountain as a role model , with whom he is also friends (in 2009 they both opened the renovated Blue Room at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans with a concert). He entered the traditional jazz scene in the 1990s and toured Germany several times from the late 1990s. He played in the Dukes of Dixieland for several years . He lives on Royal Street in the French Quarter.

From 1937 to 2011 he was involved in 35 recording sessions, also under his own name, such as The Isle of New Orleans (Gentilly Records 2003) with his own compositions. He also recorded and toured with clarinetists Jack Maheu and Tom Fischer ( Live in Germany , Gentilly Records 2005 with Maheu and Fischer, Swing that Music , Jazzology 2005 with Jack Maheu, New Orleans Swing , Jazzology 2005 with Tom Fischer). In 2014 and 2017 he released trio recordings with Gentilly Records.
