Timofei Vladimirovich Sapronov
Timofei Vladimirovich Sapronov (* 1887 in the Tula region, † September 28, 1937 in Moscow ) was the leader of the group " Democratic Centralists " in the early phase of the Soviet Union , which was in opposition to Stalinism . He joined the Communists at an early age, at the age of 25, and was one of the leading representatives of the Bolsheviks by 1917
Sapronov belonged to the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and was a member of the Presidium and acted as its secretary.
With the emergence of Stalinism, Sapronov joined the Left Opposition . In 1927 he was finally expelled from the party because of his opposition activities, arrested and finally banished, and new arrests were made in 1929 and 1935.
The group of Democratic Centralists primarily defended the basic democratic features of Lenin's idea of democratic centralism .
In September 1937, Sapronov fell victim to the Stalinist purges .
