Timotheus (sculptor)
Timotheos ( ancient Greek Τιμόθεος), possibly from Epidaurus , was one of the most famous Greek sculptors and lived in the 4th century BC. Chr.
Around 380 BC BC he was the main sculptor of the temple of Asclepius in Epidaurus , for whom he made typoi - probably templates or drafts. Because of his skill and fame, he was established around 350 BC. Chr. Artemisia II. , The wife of the Persian satrap Mausolos II. , Together with Bryaxis , Leochares and Skopas commissioned to decorate one side of the huge tomb of their husband - the mausoleum of Halicarnassus named after him - with statues and friezes, which soon was counted among the Seven Wonders of the World . He was responsible for the south side. More details about his life are not known.
