Creation and publication

The first part of The Books of Magic is a four-part series written by Neil Gaiman. Each of the four books deals with Timothy Hunter's journey with one of the men in trench coats. The booklets were designed by the draftsmen John Bolton , Scott Hampton , Charles Vess and Paul Johnson , who each took over one booklet. The series was published in 1990 and 1991 by Vertigo , an imprint of DC Comics .

From 1994 the series was continued with the author John Ney Rieber , later Peter Gross also wrote . The draftsmen were Peter Gross, Gary Amaro and Peter Snejbjerg .

By 2000 the series consisted of 75 booklets. Both parts were later published in anthologies, the first in one, the second in seven, which only include the first 50 editions.

Seven issues of the series were published in German from 1996 to 2002 by Speed ​​Comics . In 2004 a new edition of the first volume followed.

Adaptation

The publisher Harper Collins in 2003 published a series of novels written by Carla Jablonski , based on the comics. It comprises seven volumes.
