The Tingley Coliseum is a multi-purpose hall in Albuquerque , New Mexico .
History and use
The venue was constructed in 1957 with donations collected from 1937 and pays homage to Governor Clyde Tingley . Overall, donations amounted to more than 1.5 million US dollars , which made the construction of the Tingley Coliseum possible. Originally it was used as a rodeo and equestrian competition arena . Today basketball , ice hockey , soccer and boxing competitions are held in the building . The Coliseum is also used for concerts by internationally successful musicians; Eric Clapton , Elton John , Eric Church and Elvis Presley have performed here . The arena holds a total of 11,571 visitors.
