Tira , also known as Tiro or Thiro , is a Kordofan language spoken in Kordofan in Sudan .

It belongs to the group of Heiban languages within the Niger-Congo language family .

Since the speakers were exposed to strong Islamic-Arabic assimilation pressure on the part of the Sudan Arabs , the number of speakers in the language has declined sharply: The speakers are increasingly adopting the high-level Arabic language as their mother tongue and thus also teaching it to their children.
