The Standortagentur Tirol GmbH (formerly Tyrolean Future Foundation ) is an institution of the State of Tyrol with the statutory mandate, the business and science Tyrol strengthen.

The Tyrolean Future Foundation (TZ) was founded in 1997 as a public fund (foundation of a regional authority) with the Tyrolean Provincial Law of October 8, 1997 on the establishment of the Tyrolean Future Foundation (LGBl. No. 88/1997).

In its review 2000, the State Control Office  (LKA, today State Audit Office LRH) criticized the long decision-making process on funding due to the large number of bodies (future council, advisory board, monitoring group, condition and economic appraisers), the lack of differentiation from the other funding instruments of the state (for example to the departments of Economic Development and Economic Policy Coordination Office in the Office of the Tyrolean Provincial Government, the Tyrolean Economic Development Fund , the Tiroler Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft  (TUB), Tech Tirol technology transfer and location marketing or individual organizations of the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce ), as well as ambiguities in specific funding. In 2001, with an amendment to the law, tasks, strategic guidelines and funding guidelines, the bearing of personnel and material costs, the bodies and their tasks, the appointment and tasks of management and supervision were fundamentally amended ( LGBl. No. 59/2001 ).

In the 2003 audit by the State Audit Office, it was criticized that, as originally intended, the "profit distributions from participations and liability premiums" (§ 2 lit. a leg.cit. I. D. F.  1997; e.g. from TIWAG , Hypo Tirol , etc.) had been passed on in full to the Future Foundation. For this reason, the law was revised again in 2005, and the funding of the fund was restricted to the "provisions of the funds provided for this in the state budget" (§ 2 lit. a leg.cit.) ( LGBl. No. 93/2005 ) so that the state can dispose of his means more freely.

The institution has been  operating as the location agency Tirol since 2011 , with the location agency Tirol Management GmbH , which has existed since 2012, as the operational office. In 2014, the business and location promotion was reorganized in the direction of simpler funding procedures. On March 2, 2019, the public law fund Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung was transformed into the Standortagentur Tirol GmbH by virtue of Federal Law Gazette I No. 88/2018. The Lageagentur Tirol GmbH thus takes over the legal status of the Tyrolean Future Foundation by law and continues all agreements and business relationships unchanged. The location agency Tirol GmbH is 100% owned by Lebensraum Tirol 4.0 GmbH, of which the state of Tyrol is the sole shareholder.

Organization and financing

The state of Tyrol is 100% responsible for the fund . The location agency Tyrol works on the basis of the Tyrolean state law of October 8, 1997 on the establishment of the Tyrolean Future Foundation.

The organs of the Tiroler Zukunftsstiftung are (§ 7 leg.cit.):

  • the board of trustees - five members, currently chairwoman Patrizia Zoller-Frischauf (regional councilor for economy)
  • the managing director - currently Marcus Hofer

The annual funding volume that is handled by the agency is around 7 million euros, over 3 million of which are direct funding.

The competitiveness of a location depends on the knowledge and market lead of its companies and research institutions. As the location development agency of the state of Tyrol, the location agency Tyrol therefore takes care of the establishment, settlement and development of companies in the Tyrol business location and supports research institutions. In terms of industry, the location agency Tyrol concentrates on the economic strengths of Tyrol. These are the areas of Alpine Technologies, Mechatronics & Information Technology and Health. But the location agency Tyrol is also available as a service facility for foreign companies wishing to settle in Tyrol .

Service and cluster

The location agency Tirol acts as a service provider for the local economy and science on all aspects of research, technology, innovation and cooperation. Increased cooperation between companies and research institutions in technology and innovation projects motivates and supports them, among other things, in their own clusters. These clusters are established in the Tyrol in the strength fields of renewable energies, information technologies, life sciences, mechatronics and wellness in sectors. In the networked work in the clusters, the companies benefit from the know-how of specialized partners as well as the local research institutions. These accelerate the transfer of their technologies to the economy in the clusters. Furthermore, the location agency Tyrol advises and supports all Tyrolean companies and research institutions in the use of research, technology and innovation programs of the public sector - specifically the state of Tyrol, the federal government and the European Union.

The location agency Tirol operates the international marketing for the business and science location Tyrol in order to draw attention to the achievements of the Tyrolean economy and science in markets around the world and to win the best entrepreneurs and researchers from home and abroad for the location. She organizes appearances in close cooperation with Tyrolean companies, universities and technical colleges, all partners of the Tyrolean clusters and Tyrol advertising.
