Back of glasses

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The back of glasses , also known as glasses or table backs (in Austria ), is understood as a spiritistic method with which an attempt is made to establish contact with the souls of the deceased by means of an upturned drinking glass and a circle of letters . The principle is the same as with Ouija .

Possible test arrangement

The participants sit in a circle around a table, in the middle of which is the glass with the circle of letters surrounding it. Everyone puts a finger on the glass. Then questions are asked. The answers are then put together from the letters to which the glass moves one after the other.

Attempt to explain the phenomenon

It is a well known fact that emotions trigger muscle contractions . (This is how you shiver with fear, your knees shake after a near-accident). With the polygraph , for example, the microcontractions of the facial muscles are measured in response to certain questions, along with other parameters. If unusual reactions occur to certain questions, then one can compare the answer and the unconscious reaction of the muscles with one another and conclude possible discrepancies between the two. This connection between emotional experience and muscle activity always exists.

However, the emotional world of the individual is usually only expressed in the form of barely visible muscle contractions. Now, if you put a group of individuals in a situation where they all expect the same thing, they will all experience the same muscle contractions. The addition of the small movements then triggers a visible movement. This is exactly what happens in the "experimental set-up" of glasses.
