Tishomingo Railroad

The Tishomingo Railroad ( AAR reporting mark: TISH) was a shunting - Railway Company in the US -Bundesstaat Mississippi . The company operated the 17.7 kilometer route from Iuka to the northern Tri-State Commerce Park industrial area. In Iuka there is a transition option to the Norfolk Southern Railway .

history

From 1978 to 1982, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in northern Tishomingo County began construction of the Yellow Creek Nuclear Plant . For this purpose, the TVA built and operated a railway line. After the construction of the power plant and the construction of a rocket test facility for NASA failed in 1988, the site was converted into the Tri-State Commerce Park.

The Tishomingo Railroad was founded in 1999 to operate the state-owned route into the Tri-State Commerce Park industrial estate, a former NASA rocket engine manufacturing facility, from May 15, 2000 . On April 1, 2006, the Indiana Boxcar Corporation (INBC) and Vintage Locomotives acquired the company equally.

On August 1, 2009, the Mississippi Central Railroad (MSCI) took over operations on the route. All fixed assets were sold to the MSCI.

The company has two EMD GP9Ms (nos. 221 and 222) and five GE U23Bs .
