Tithraustes (son of Xerxes I.)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tithraustes was a member of the Persian Achaemenid dynasty in the 5th century BC. He was a son of the Great King Xerxes I and a concubine.

Like his cousin Pherendates , Tithraustes was one of the Persian generals in the battle of Eurymedon around 466/65 BC. He commanded the Persian fleet while his cousin, who was killed in battle, commanded the land army. Even Plutarch knew from the tradition of Ephoros both as leader of the Persian armed forces, but he called this in citing Kallisthenes the Ariomandes as commander of the overall force.
