Titus Domitius Hieron

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Titus Domitius Hieron was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 3rd century AD . In the military diploma his name is given as Domitius Hiero .

An inscription found at Old Penrith , dated 201/300, shows that Hieron was prefect of the Cohors II Gallorum equitata , which was stationed in the province of Britannia at the time. A military diploma dated March 23, 178, shows that a Domitius Hiero was in command of the Cohors II Gallorum veterana stationed in Britain . The hieron of the inscription and the hiero of the diploma should therefore be the same person. He was from Nicomedia .
