Titus Lerner

Titus Lerner (* 1954 in Hachenburg , Westerwald ) is a German painter and sculptor .

Life

From 1972 to 1978 he studied fine arts in Koblenz and Bonn. He has been a freelance artist since 1978. In addition to painting and sculpture, etchings were also created. From 2003 to 2005, Titus Lerner was artistic director of the Weißenseifen symposium . 13 catalog raisonnés have been published since 1978, most recently in 2019 by ars momentum Verlag, Witten, 2019. He lives in the Eifel .

In the plastic area, bronzes, stone carving and terracotta sculptures are equally important. Lerner's central expression is the human figure. In painting, the representation often focuses on the head and face, which for learners is not only a reflection of the soul, but also symbolizes the synthesis of feeling and mind.

  • 1993: Sinking of 20 terracotta heads at the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz (on the Moselle and Rhine) in response to the redesign and installation of the imperial monument. Recorded on broadcast on SWF3 Landesschau in October 1993.
  • 1995: Sinking of the stone sculpture "Neptune" in the Rhine in front of the European cultural center Galerie Rolandseck. An action for more affection for the river as an alternative to abuse. Recording and broadcast in April 1995 on SWF Landesschau.
  • 2002: Sinking campaign with several terracottas in the Moselle in front of the Middle Rhine Museum, as part of the solo exhibition.
