The cinema Tivoli on Berliner Strasse 27 was in the Berlin district of Pankow the same district .

history

This is where the Skladanowsky brothers from Pankow presented their first films in July 1895 in the ballroom of the “Feldschlößchen” excursion restaurant . The films showed stretching exercises , juggling and an Italian dance, which had been recorded in the garden of the restaurant. From November 1, 1895, these recordings were shown in the Berlin Varieté Wintergarten .

A few years later, a permanent cinema location was established at Berliner Straße 27. The building was demolished in 1924 and replaced by a 400-seat movie theater in 1925 according to plans by the architects Walter Erdmann and Reinhold Lest . The original splendid furnishings were lost during renovation work in 1960 under the direction of Heinz Glückmann , as elements of modern architecture replaced the pre-war substance during the necessary renovation.

The cinema was closed in 1994. In the context of the 100th anniversary of the premiere of a film, in particular, there were several attempts to revive the cinema, but all of them failed. After the house was sold to a real estate agent in 2003, it was demolished. Today there is a discounter ( Lidl ) on the property . A mosaic that is embedded in the floor of the former entrance area is reminiscent of the cinema . It bears the inscription "1895 BIOSKOP 1995".
