To - A Space Fantasy is an anime - Computer animation of Japanese director Fumihiko Sori from the year 2009. It is based on two episodes of the 19-part manga series 2001 Ya Monogatari of Yukinobu Hoshino .

Yoshio Takeuchi had already created a 60-minute OVA in 1987 based on 2001 Ya Monogatari . To is limited to the two chapters 12. Symbiotic Planet ( 楕 円 軌道 , Daen Kidō ) and 14. Elliptical Orbit ( 共生 惑星 , Kyōsei Wakusei ).

The film was released in Japan on October 2, 2009 in two parts on DVD in a rental version and from December 18, 2009 in Japan on DVD and Blu-ray Disc as a purchase version.

On 24./25. November 2009 both parts were broadcast via satellite on BS-TBS and on November 27th, 4th / 11th / 18th. December after midnight (and thus on the previous television day ) as a four-part terrestrial broadcast on TBS . In Germany it was released on May 28, 2010 under the title To - A Space Fantasy (FSK 12), also on DVD and Blu-Ray from Animaze, distributed by WVG Medien.
