Tobias Gossmann

Tobias Gossmann (* 1965 in Siegen ) is a German conductor and violinist.

Life

At the age of eight he received his first piano and violin lessons. After graduating from high school, he first studied violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Günter Pichler, the leader of the Alban Berg Quartet, and Dora Schwarzberg, then conducting with Leopold Hager.

He began his musical career as a concertmaster, soloist and chamber musician. Stations were the Vienna Symphony Orchestra , the Maurice Ravel Ensemble, Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona, ​​Orquestra Sinfonica del Gran Teatre del Liceu, Orquestra de Cadaques and the Super World Orchestra in Japan.

As a conductor he mainly works in Spain, Germany and Japan. From 2003 to 2016 he was chief conductor of the Spanish chamber orchestra Orquestra Simfonica Camerata XXI in Tarragona / Reus. Since 2017 he has been artistic director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the University of Alicante .
