Wunibald Deininger

Wunibald Deininger (born March 5, 1879 in Vienna ; † August 24, 1963 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian architect.

Wunibald Deininger was born on March 5, 1879 as the son of Ludmilla Schönfuss and the architect Julius Deininger in Vienna. After graduating from the Vienna State Trade School, Deininger studied from 1898 to 1902 at the Academy of Fine Arts with Viktor Luntz and later with Otto Wagner . During the First World War Deininger did his military service in Italy. From 1931 he taught as a professor for building construction and spatial art at the Graz University of Technology . From 1933 to 1935 and from 1942 to 1943 he was Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the Graz University of Technology.

As a student of Otto Wagner, Wunibald Deininger created his own style out of tradition and modernity - i.e. a maintainer and innovator at the same time.

Awards

  • In 1901 Deininger received the Gundel Prize .
  • In 1925 he was awarded the Golden State Medal for Art and Science for the Salzburg Festival House project.
  • In Salzburg Museum Lifetime Achievement Deininger's presented in an exhibition.
