Life

Hild studied at the Technical University of Munich and made his diploma there. During his studies he spent a semester abroad at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich , where Hild had a design under Professor Miroslav Šik . In 1992 the architecture office "Hild und Kaltwasser" was founded, which was continued as "Hild und K Architects" after the death of Tillmann Kaltwasser . The office partner is Dionys Ottl .

Hild is primarily active in the areas of residential construction and office and commercial construction. The focus of the architectural work of Hild und K Architects is in Munich.

Hild appears in the SWR television program "Never again no idea - architecture", moderated by Enie van de Meiklokjes , together with Raimund Wünsche as an expert.

Teaching

Hild was visiting professor or substitute professor at the University of Kaiserslautern , the University of Applied Sciences in Munich , the HfbK Hamburg , the TU Graz and the TU Darmstadt . Since October 2013 he has held the professorship for design and preservation of monuments at the architecture faculty of the Technical University of Munich.

TUM , facade - redesign

The two early works by the Munich architects Hild and Kaltwasser are two properties in Eichstätt , the construction of a new warehouse in 1994 and an increase in the old town in 1995.

The renovation of the Belziger Strasse facade in Berlin, which was completed in 1999, gains its charm from the relief-like implementation of an enlarged original drawing: The Wilhelminian-era facade of the residential building was to be restored using the original plan. This construction contract was taken literally, the original drawing was enlarged 1: 1 and transferred to the facade as a negative plaster relief. It became evident that the input sketch had never been implemented identically. The process-related shifts and deformations of the ornament play aesthetically attractive with the pitfalls of historical reconstruction and the inevitable difference between design and building.

The residential building in Aggstall, built in 2000, plays with traditional regional designs: an asymmetrical saddle roof allows the formation of two sufficiently high, well-lit storeys with the same ridge height. The grainy yellow brick facade reflects in its geometric pattern the irregularity and the play of light of traditionally plastered masonry surfaces.

The façade and structure of the “Klostergarten Lehel” residential complex from 2009 is decisively shaped by spoilage , namely by reinstalled neo-Romanesque window elements from a refectory from the previous building. The almost five meter high wall arches are spatially integrated into split-level units. The high halls behind open up further levels at common storey heights.

The architecture of the “Hotel Louis” on Viktualienmarkt, which was also completed in 2009, interweaves different Munich building traditions: stylistic elements of the baroque and the reconstruction architecture of the 1950s.

The renovation and conversion of the institute building 0505 of the Technical University of Munich, completed in 2011, takes on the architectural peculiarities of the existing building with its striking reinforced concrete skeleton and develops them further.

literature

In his writings on architecture theory, Hild takes positions far removed from the well-trodden academic paths. For example, in “Buildings, Structures, Mixtures” he suggests the approximation of object-like and formal architectural language. His essay “Gedacht / Gebaut” deals with the softening of traditional boundaries between historical and contemporary architecture and thus also with a new position in the preservation of monuments.
