German urban development award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Urban Development Award is endowed with 25,000 euros and honors exemplary examples of urban planning. It is currently awarded every two years.

history

The German Urban Development Award was initiated in 1980 by the journalist and editor-in-chief of Bauwelt , Ulrich Conrads , together with the Bank für Gemeinwirtschaft , and named after its long-term chairman Walter Hesselbach . From 2000 to 2004, SEB AG continued the award under the technical supervision of the Association for Urban, Regional and State Planning (SRL) . The Wüstenrot Foundation took up the concern of the founders of the German Urban Development Award in 2006 and is continuing the award in cooperation with the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning (DASL) .

target

This award is intended to make a continuous contribution to the renewal of urban culture and urban planning culture and to help create public recognition for urban planning . With the award-winning plans, excellent, exemplary examples are to be presented to a wider public and thus stimulate discussion of urban design across technical boundaries.

In addition to the urban development prize, a special prize is also awarded.
