Sophie Wolfrum

Sophie Wolfrum (* 1952 in Aue ) is a German city and regional planner and retired professor ; until 2018 she held the chair for urban development and regional planning at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

Sophie Wolfrum was born in Aue in the Saxon Ore Mountains and left the GDR as a child with her parents before the Wall was built . From 1970 to 1975 she studied spatial planning at the University of Dortmund , where she passed the state examination in urban development in 1984 with the degree of graduate engineer . From 1995 to 1996 she was visiting professor at the University of Kassel (GHK), department of urban planning / landscape planning.

In 1989 she founded an architecture and urban planning office with Alban Janson . In 2003 she accepted a call from the Technical University of Munich to the chair for urban development and regional planning at the Faculty of Architecture at the Technical University of Munich.

Awards

Sophie Wolfrum was awarded the Hugo Häring Prize in 1997, together with Alban Janson for the project “... Stadtgarten Böblingen . In 2006, Janson & Wolfrum, together with Frank Roser, Heike Mezger, Claus Walker and Dietmar Meck, received the German Urban Development Award for the Ostfildern project : Scharnhauser Park district in Ostfildern .
