Andreas Meck (born December 10, 1959 in Munich ; † August 20, 2019 ) was a German architect and university professor .

Life

Andreas Meck, son of the former Ingolstadt municipal works manager Hans Meck, graduated in 1985 in architecture from the Technical University of Munich . He then received a scholarship at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in London. In 1989 he opened his own office in Munich. In 2013, Meck was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, a position he held until his death. Meck was involved in urban planning for cities and municipalities and was active in specialist and design advisory boards. He was committed to the architecture museum of the Technical University of Munich.

In August 2019, Meck died at the age of 59 after a short illness of cancer.

The Meck Architekten office continued to exist after his death and is managed by Axel Frühauf.

Teaching

Meck was assistant at the chair for interior design and design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . Since 1998 he has been Professor of Design and Building Construction at the University of Munich .

Memberships

In 2006 he became a member of the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning and in 2007 a full member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts .

Judging activities

Meck was chairman of the jury for the relay competition of a 3-group kindergarten in Marktoberdorf .
